Onward and upward in 2022: The Hymnals on a Clear Day

Here's a bit of an upbeat new song to kick off 2022!

Writing songs can be a tough journey but I've enjoyed the path this one has taken me on. I've been playing it for a couple of years to myself, so it's time to kick it out there into the world and hope it gets a job.

I like that it captures some good memories of Montréal, while the lyrics push and pull on those distant times in my brain. And I get a kick out of reliving the characters each time I play this song.

For those of you who have been following, the Saturday night/Sunday morning series continues: there is one electric version and one acoustic.

From the get-go, I've been playing this uptempo (see the Saturday night version), so the slower, mellow version (Sunday morning) is new to me.

I was pleasantly surprised how it turned out.

This concept of doing multiple versions of songs is keeping me entertained these days.

And for those of you who remember and liked my Glen Nevous Retraction project, you'll likely enjoy the Saturday night version. It reminds me of that era of my writing and performing, which was about a solo electric guitar and little else.

So again, you can pick your path or enjoy both.

Have a listen, share, follow, etc.

Keep safe, stay positive and keep being kind to each other.
