Broken string, electric guitars and the return of the Blood Brothers in Rock

I’m currently running through my solo catalogue, penciling in the set lists and looking forward to two great shows on tap for this week.

First up on Friday I’m making my return to Kingston to play the Toucan for a CFRC benefit. The bill is with Jon Hynes, The Hauraches, Teenage Frankenstein …and Patrick Shanks.

This set will be a nostalgic rush for me. It’s been years since I last played there and it was on that very stage in the Toucan where I first met Pat ‘The Shanker’ Shanks. His band the 14th Wray were on a bill with The Stand GT and I distinctly remember Pat breaking a string, borrowing my guitar and bleeding all over it in a fury of adolescent garage rock splendour!

We’ve been blood brothers in rock ever since.

In the Kingston area? Come out Friday! Event details for Toucan/Kingston here.

Next up is the show I’ve been chatting a bunch about recently which goes down in Ottawa at Irene’s on Saturday night. I share a songwriters circle type bill with Catriona, Jon and Patrick. We’re also raising funds for the Ottawa Food Bank…a donation of any size gets you a beautifully designed, full colour signed poster. Check out my previous blog post for details.
